School Committee · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Watertown parents blast special education gaps as the School Committee opens its new $190 million-plus high school. Parent Allie Rothenberg said her daughter has missed school for months because the district hasn't secured a nurse who meets her IEP's requirements. Resident Jocelyn Taker said Watertown failed the state's special education compliance matrix two years running, yet gave Superintendent Dr.
Goldstein an "exemplary" evaluation. Member Mark Sedaris balked at a superintendent goal promising to "rebuild trust" by June 2027: "This is too complicated to say." The committee voted 7-0 to accept a $310,767 state grant funding its Family Center, approved a restraint-and-seclusion policy update, and began a search for Goldstein's successor, targeting a hire by February or March 2027.
