WATERTOWN — The Watertown School Committee reviewed $983,248 in new FY27 budget priority requests against a $2.5 million level-service deficit ahead of a March 16 vote. Superintendent Galston said the district has a $462,772 positive margin to work with and has made a special education coach with an elementary focus its top new priority. Director of Public Buildings Denise Maroney said she is trying to hold her department's budget to the $1.785 million funded in FY26 despite rising electricity costs tied to the new high school.
IT Director George Skews cited hardware shortages from the "AI boom" driving up Chromebook costs. Athletic Director Ryan Murphy said fees could return "possibly as early as next year" to fund a stalled uniform rotation. No budget votes were taken Monday.
