Community Preservation Committee · Meeting of August 20, 2026

WATERTOWN — The Watertown Community Preservation Committee voted unanimously to advance five projects toward full CPA funding applications. The biggest is a $6 million bid from Metro West Collaborative Development to convert an unbuilt 52-unit market-rate project at 108 Water Street into roughly 49 affordable apartments for households at 30 to 80 percent of area median income. Members also found eligible a $20,000 Gore Place trail design, a Watertown Community Gardens request members called "very low" given the site has no water hookup, a Watertown Affordable Housing Trust predevelopment reserve fund, and a Brown House structural-repair phase backed by Historic New England.

The committee separately approved $7,800 in Community Preservation Coalition dues and shifted $21,500 within its own administrative budget. A veterans' group's eligibility form for a Marine Corps League building on Mount Auburn Street was not advanced after the applicant never completed required planning-department meetings.
