Commission on Disability · Meeting of October 21, 2026

Watertown's Commission on Disability voted to authorize up to $800 for a Nov. 4 disability-awareness event co-hosted by the Watertown Free Public Library and World in Watertown. Chair Kim Charlson presided as the board also accepted a treasurer's report showing an available balance of $194,721.24 and heard a funding pitch from Lori Garden, president of Friends of Project Literacy, requesting ASL and CART interpreters for the January 18, 2027 MLK Unity Breakfast, with a vote expected in November. Members George Donoghue and John Hawes agreed to draft signage recommendations for City Hall's accessible entrance, while member Lisa Feltner raised concerns that new Mount Auburn Street sidewalk construction is "not level" and that a fire hydrant near Arlington and Arsenal streets, though measured at 38 inches of clearance, "has that appearance... of being like, whoa, that's really tight."
