WATERTOWN — The Watertown Conservation Commission approved a revised landscaping plan for 93 California Street and closed out a 2021 permit at 580 Pleasant Street. Commissioners voted 4-0 on each item. The applicant's representative, identified as Chris, said access problems near a state-owned parcel led the owner to drop a rear patio and walkway, "simplify the project, minimize the cost." Conservation Agent Katie recommended closing the Pleasant Street permit after "the two-year-grown season and site stabilization." Separately, commissioner Marilyn, the board's liaison to the Community Preservation Committee, raised concern that a town cemetery renovation on Mount Auburn Street will remove several mature trees, including Norway maples, without replacing them.
No vote was taken on the tree issue. The commission also heard that a state hearing officer is reviewing a denied wetlands permit near a pond, with a decision expected by late April.
