Watertown Schedules Hearing to Mark Decade of Preservation Act

WATERTOWN — Watertown will hold a celebratory public hearing marking the 10th anniversary of its adoption of the Community Preservation Act, according to Watertown News, with residents invited to learn how the dedicated funding stream has shaped town projects over the past decade.

The hearing is set for 7 p.m. at the Watertown Free Public Library's Savings Bank Room. The Community Preservation Act, a state-enabled local option that Watertown voters adopted 10 years ago, funds affordable housing, historic preservation, and open space and recreation projects through a dedicated surcharge and matching state funds. Town officials are using the anniversary to walk residents through how the program has been used locally and to take public comment on its future.
