Watertown's Planning Board voted unanimously to adopt revised rules of practice and procedure after extended debate over conflict-of-interest disclosure language. Chaired by Janet, the board also continued a 66 Galen Street special permit request to June 10 because only four of five seats are currently filled. Staff said a new 48-hour cutoff will bar last-minute document submissions before hearings.
A board member, Payson, supplied written comments that shaped the rules; another, Gideon, and member Abigail pressed staff on hypothetical mid-hearing recusal scenarios. One staffer said, "I'm starting to feel uncomfortable. You need to submit a disclosure form." Staff also announced a Watertown Square open house set for May 20 and said the city's new 2026-2030 housing plan, adopted by the Affordable Housing Trust on April 26, is now before the City Council.
