WATERTOWN — The Human Rights Commission discussed upcoming activities and events, including a presentation of a student-designed logo at a June 22 School Committee meeting. Commission members Sarah Zoen, Mel Poindexter, and Lisa Laplante, with staff member Doug Newton, planned to present the final logo, created through a student design contest at Watertown Public Schools, and to honor the winning student while building partnerships with the student body. Laplante presented a comprehensive action plan document summarizing the commission's work and goals, to be reviewed at the next meeting before potential sharing with the City Council and other stakeholders.
The commission also discussed its plan to host a larger Human Rights Day event in December.
