WATERTOWN — The Watertown Human Rights Commission advanced a motion on immigration enforcement response in the town. Corey Barr prompted discussion of Supreme Court decisions on Temporary Protected Status and rising ICE detentions, citing a June 27 detainment in Watertown that drew response from the Rapid Response Network and Watertown Police. After reviewing a Cambridge City Council statement, Sarah Zoen drafted an HRC response, and Corey Barr moved for approval, seconded by Xin Peng; however, the vote tally was not recorded.
The commission also discussed a filed complaint about Special Education in Watertown Public Schools, deferring selection of a lead staff person to its July 13 meeting.
