Community Preservation · Meeting of February 2, 2026
WATERTOWN — The Community Preservation Committee received training from the Community Preservation Coalition on CPA funding eligibility and discussed strategies to increase applications. Committee members learned that capital improvements must be physically attached to historic buildings and that projects on state-managed land are allowable. The committee discussed outreach to nonprofits and the Department of Conservation and Resources, as well as reaching out to affordable housing developers.
Coordinator Lanae Handy reported that the CPC has recommended over 11 million dollars in Community Preservation Act funding, with 7.5 million dollars allocated for housing. One regional developer, MetroWest, operates in the area but faces difficulty finding sites capable of supporting 40 or more units in Watertown.
