WATERTOWN — The Watertown City Council voted unanimously to raise City Manager George Proacus's salary to $244,658 and open talks on a successor contract ahead of its August 14, 2026 expiration. Council President Mark S. Sideris reorganized committees for the new two-year term and named Vincent J.
Piccirilli vice president. The council also approved $1,156,000 for Parker Building energy and fire-suppression upgrades and $95,000 for a Phillips School backup generator, both by 9-0 roll-call votes. A Comcast petition to bury fiber conduits on Arlington and Clarendon streets drew pushback from resident Gail Boyd, who said earlier utility work there "cracked the foundation" of her home.
