Watertown's Solid Waste and Recycling Advisory Committee moved to approve a letter of support for a draft Trash, Recycling, and Composting Ordinance, with additional conditions. The ordinance would require all residential premises to recycle and compost, effective July 1, 2027, though Rules and Regulations would apply only to buildings with fewer than five units. The committee stated support is conditional on the Department developing communication and implementation plans for large residential facilities with five or more units.
The committee also discussed contaminated recycling enforcement improvements and planned awareness campaigns to increase composting participation.
