WATERTOWN — The Committee on Rules and Ordinances voted 3-0 to advance a revised "Skip the Stuff" ordinance. The measure removed bans on foam polystyrene, black plastic, and petroleum-lined packaging that concerned local restaurants and the Chamber of Commerce. Chair Nicole Gardner, Vice Chair Lisa J.

Feltner, and Secretary John G. Gannon voted to adopt the amendments and refer to the City Council. The ordinance, first approved in October 2025, had expanded beyond reducing unwanted single-use utensils.

The committee agreed on penalties of verbal and written warnings for first two offenses, then $50, $100, and $200 for subsequent violations.
