Commission Denies Two Intersection Safety Requests

Watertown Traffic Commission unanimously denied two resident requests for modified traffic control at different intersections.

Traffic Commission · Meeting of April 29, 2026

Watertown Traffic Commission unanimously denied two resident requests for modified traffic control at different intersections. The Commission upheld the existing all-way stop at School Street and Maplewood Street, rejecting requests for a rapid flashing beacon or traffic signal, citing Federal Highway Administration guidelines and engineering warrant failures. Director of Public Works Thomas Brady and member Kelly Gallagher supported the denial of the first request.

The Commission also unanimously denied resident John Byrne's request for an all-way stop at Bradshaw Street and Westminster Avenue pending further Engineering evaluation of the intersection, which was redeveloped in 2023.
