Historical Commission · Meeting of February 11, 2026

WATERTOWN — Historical Commission denied historic status for 71 Gleason St. The Watertown board voted 5-0 to determine the 1958 Colonial Style home is not historically significant and not preferably preserved, clearing the way for applicant Scott Miller of Autograph Properties to proceed with demolition and replacement with a New England colonial style residence. The commission also received an update on developer Peter Zagorianakos's revised plan for 18-20 Washburn St., where instead of demolishing the historic house, he proposed preserving and relocating it as a focal point.

Chair Elise Loukas expressed approval of the new direction. Commission member Matthew Walter reported the Community Preservation Committee approved Phase One funding for the Commanders Mansion project.
