WATERTOWN — The Biosafety Committee recommended permits for new labs at 99 Coolidge Ave. The committee voted 5-0 by roll call to recommend both A Biologics and Profound Therapeutics to the Board of Health, each conditioned on an updated emergency action plan. Ralph Maley said the plan wrongly has companies calling the District 2 hazmat team, a call the fire department would make.
A Biologics said it will seek large quantity generator status, a first for the committee. A motion for Ampersand Biomedicines was also seconded. All three companies plan to move in Aug. 5.
Members also elected Brad Parsons chair, 4-0 with Parsons refraining, and set a tentative July 8 meeting.
