WATERTOWN — The Watertown Affordable Housing Trust voted 5-0 to support a state funding application for the Willow Park affordable rental development. Zoe Weinrobe moved and Jill Hyde seconded approval of a support letter. Trustees reviewed draft housing needs data for the 2026-2030 plan, noting that approximately 26% of residents were born outside the country and the percentage with limited English proficiency has doubled to 5.8%.
Staff highlighted gaps in affordable housing for residents aged 55 and older and those earning below 60% of area median income. Inclusionary zoning units can become cost-burdened as rents rise over time, staff noted, particularly after the state lifted COVID-era rent freezes. A consolidated draft will be presented in March.
